Mobile Application

I have not updated this blog in a while because the GamedayMap project has been in a sort of lull for the past couple months.

However, things are rolling again, and we are currently in negotiations with a pair of application developers in Jackson, Mississippi to transition GamedayMap from an online to a mobile platform. Dream Logic, a development team, and John Spivey, CEO of Vention, also an application development company, hope to partner with Wyatt's Torch, LLC to bring GamedayMap to the iPhone and the Droid sometime this Fall. If a big-name company can be found to back the development and marketing of the application, which John believes is a real possibility, GamedayMap could expand significantly and reach a much larger audience very quickly. We are certainly excited about the interest these companies have shown in helping develop GamedayMap, and we thank them for the hard work they have already put in to making this dream a reality.

We'll keep you updated! Happy Tailgating!

Natchez Democrat gives GamedayMap front page on the Sunday business page

Gameday Map received some more press today when the Natchez Democrat published a story entitled, "Jex creates website to help navigating tailgate tents at Ole Miss" on the front page of the Business section. Check out the story and let us know what you think!

First Press

Clay Chandler, who writes for the Mississippi Business Journal's online blog, recently interviewed me and wrote a short article on GamdayMap, entitled "Natchez man offers solution to serious tailgating problem", which is the first press that the website has received since opening a week ago. We thank Clay for his article and hope to see him in the Grove soon. Go check it out! Also, be looking for an article in this Sunday's (October 25th) edition of the Natchez Democrat.

Move that Tent!

Just a quick update to make sure every user of GamedayMap is getting the most out of our interactive map.

When you click "Tag a Tailgate", you will be taken to the page where you can personalize your Tailgate and drag your Tailgate icon to your spot on the map. The picture on the right will show you the default location of the icon.

I have noticed that some users have forgotten to drag their Tailgate icon, and there are a couple of tents bunched on top of one another. Do we need to make the Tailgate icon more noticeable on the editing screen? If so, please leave a comment on this post. Thanks!

Arkansas @ Ole Miss

We had a great response after the launch of GamedayMap. I hope those of you who used it for the Homecoming game found it easy to use. We've already gotten requests to add other schools, and I promise we are working on it. LSU will be the next map that is added, followed my Alabama and Mississippi State. We will finish the SEC schools and then move north.

I'd like to give a special thanks to Ryan Stegall, Moni Reynolds, Jay Hurdle, and Emily Byrd for helping get the word out. We really appreciate it.

Finally, for those of you going to the Arkansas @ Ole Miss game on October 24, the map is up and ready. Don't forget to put your Tailgate on the map!

Go Rebs!

How to Attend a Tailgate

I've gotten some questions about how to "attend" a Tailgate.

First, if you have any questions about how to do anything on GamedayMap, there are detailed instructions on the "How it Works" Page.

Moving on. To "attend" a tailgate, you must be signed in first. Otherwise, GamedayMap will not know who you are. If you are a Facebook user, you can simply click "Facebook Connect", enter your Facebook password, and you are signed in to GamedayMap. If you're not a Facebook, simply register a membership and then sign in.

Once you're attending, anyone may search for you on the Map!

Good luck and happy tailgating.
